As the nights draw in after the clocks go back here in the UK, the last thing you want to do is go outside in the miserable British winter. So top up that eshop credit and purchase some new games while they’re on sale! Here are some top picks from yours truly, the eshop bargain hunter!

1. ALL the resident evils

Three great Resident Evil games, all on this amazing portable systems. Whether it’s exploring a strange mansion or sent on a secret mission in Europe, there’s so much fright, tension amazing gameplay and story to be had with these three. With more Resident Evil’s to come on Switch, this is a great time to complete these classics.

Price: £19.99 – To £15.99 -20%

A recent release to Switch, Blasphemous is a action adventure metroidvania set in a world where a foul curse has fallen on the world and it’s inhabitants. Your a sole survivor of the Silent Sorrow and it’s up to you to hack and slash and free the world from this terrible fate.

Often seen as the lesser of the SteamWorld games, let me be clear, this is an amazing game. A turn based strategy game, with the witty dialogue of SteamWorld games. You’re a captain of a pirate ship in space, who has to recruit, upskill crew members and shoot the enemies while looting the booty. At 70% off it’s a great price to enjoy.

Two of the greatest metroidvania games to be had for less than a Papa John’s delivery. Well thought out stories, with amazing pixel art and the core metroidvania mechanics employed perfectly in these 2d adventures. At the very least pick up Dig for less than £3 with no risk.

With Halloween coming up, let’s throw in some more scare-tastic games in Outlast and Outlast 2. First person survival horror games where the key mechanic is sneaking and stealth to avoid the danger. Throughout the games you cannot attack, so it’s either being careful or forever having to outrun your pursuers. Either way, beware if you pick these up!

Enjoyed the remaster of Link’s Awakening? Completed it and thinking what’s next? Consider the Swords of Ditto, which is an action role playing game like Link’s Awakening, but with a smattering of roguelike thrown in for good measure. You have to defeat dungeons and ultimately Mormo, but with multiple hero’s in different time frames.

At only 82p (I mean, can you even get a double decker duo for this?!?!) you get a face-melting, pixel-pumping, Neo-Retro arcade shoot ’em up featuring power-ups, epic boss battles and spectacular effects at a blistering 60fps. Blast through hordes of Alienoids in Arcade Mode, tackle endless waves of invaders in Survival Mode and battle epic level guardians in Boss Run. What else would you do with 82p?
