Backlog season remains prevalent, but there are still a few noteworthy releases coming your way in June. Let’s have a gander at a few!
Mario Strikers: Battle League Football
Nintendo Switch – June 10

Nintendo’s strong 2022 continues with the return of the Mario Strikers series. Battle League is the first new entry since Mario Strikers Charged on the Wii in 2007 – long overdue in many people’s opinion.
Featuring improved visuals, new game modes, new controls, online multiplayer and online clubs there is a lot to look forward to. With some strong previews, hopefully Strikers can see a change in form for Mario’s recent sporting performances.
The Quarry
Xbox Series S|X, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC – June 10
The Quarry is the latest entry from survival horror specialists Supermassive Games. The game looks to emulate those 80s slasher vibes, with a bunch of teenage camp counsellors being trapped for the night who need to fight off supernatural presences and blood-thirsty locals to survive.
Gameplay and narrative features don’t venture to far from the Supermassive tried and tested formula. The player ultimately decides who lives or dies in a story boasting a massive 186 potential endings.
Fall Guys
Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch – June 21
Not a new releases per sé, but after a rather lengthy delay, Fall Guys is finally coming to Xbox and Switch and not only that, it is also going free-to-play!
The worry is it all might be too little too late, with the Fall Guys craze feeling like a thing of the past. Hopefully it might be the boost that these mighty fine little beans need.
Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes
Nintendo Switch – June 24

In the second collaborations between the Fire Emblem and Warriors series’, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes sees players battle across a war-torn Fódlan. Edelgard, Dimitri, Claude and other Fire Emblem: Three Houses characters return to put their combat expertise on display. Unleash devastating combos and stunning special moves in action-packed, real-time combat.
Sonic Origins
Xbox Series S|X, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC – June 26

In case you hadn’t noticed, the world’s most famous hedgehog has enjoyed a little bit of a resurgence of late with the success of the recent movie franchise.
Sonic Origins looks to build on that success. Featuring a remastered compilation of Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic CD, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles, the title looks to bring back the glory days if Sonic, Tails and Knuckles.
There are many editions of the game to choose from at launch (we’ve all seen that ridiculous table trying to explain them!). Hopefully this will follow in the footsteps of the excellent Sonic Mania and make fans, old and new, very happy.
Best of the rest
